The difference you will make as an Assistant Financial Reporting Accountant
The Assistant Financial Reporting Accountant is a finance professional reporting to the Financial Reporting Accountant. You will be responsible for the delivery of financial reporting across the Group and accountable for statutory, regulatory and internal management reporting.
To fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be required to be on site at Head Office, Liverpool for each month end and during planning, interim and year-end external audits. The Group has offices across the UK, and there may be a requirement to travel to other locations to effectively perform this role. You will need to work flexibly during the hours of operation.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
* Studying towards a recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA). Alternatively, be fully qualified to AAT Level 4 or educated to degree level with an accounting and finance related degree.
* An advanced user of MS Excel.
* Possesses technical accounting skills.
* Knowledgeable of relevant legislation and government regulations.

Role Profile
* Carry out complex, non-standard financial reporting activity for the Group and subsidiaries.
* Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting policies for the Financial Reporting team, ensuring compliance with FRS’s, SORP, IFRS and regulatory requirements.
* Play an active role in ensuring that accounting policies are communicated and applied effectively across the Group.
* Prepare a range of complex journals in adherence with the Group’s month end timetable.
* Reconciliation of complex balance sheet accounts ensuring correct coding and supporting documentation is available.
* Assist with the preparation of Group consolidated balance sheet reports for internal management reporting to support wider business decisions.
* Prepare financial statements for all subsidiaries, management companies and associated entities ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
* Assist with the preparation of key accounting disclosures for inclusion in the Group financial statements.
* Prepare financial reporting year-end working papers, reconciliations, and audit information as required and in line with regulatory and statutory requirements.
* Support the Financial Reporting Manager in the delivery of the external audit of the Group and its subsidiaries.
* Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports for quarterly and annual submission to the Regulator of Social Housing ensuring external reports are prepared accurately and in accordance with specified timetables.
* Assist with the preparation of accounting papers to support internal practices.
* Prepare Corporation Tax packs to assist with the Group’s tax disclosures.
* Support the budget, quarterly forecast, and business plan processes, assist with the preparation of Group cash flows and balance sheets with a high level of detail and accuracy.
* Support the Financial Reporting Accountant, providing information for inclusion in the covenant reports to external lenders.
* Ensure team processes and procedures are reviewed and updated as required.
* Actively contribute to regular reviews of the Financial Accounting function, seeking feedback from internal and external stakeholders, to continually improve the service provision and identify efficiencies where possible.
* Manage internal and external stakeholders effectively, building constructive relationships to deliver the Financial Accounting service by creating an inclusive, supportive and professional environment.
* Ensure that all data protection requirements are met in accordance with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.

* Undertake personal development and training as necessary to keep up to date with legal, political, financial and other developments in the fields of housing and customer service.
Person specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
