An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cover Manager/Pastoral Support Mentor to join a successful and innovative team at our Academy. The successful candidate will organise lessons for absent teachers to ensure they are covered throughout the day. You will be able to arrange cover quickly having previous experience of understanding teachers workloads, timetables and best well matched cover to meet the needs of our pupils. You, or our academy Cover Supervisor will cover the absent teacher's timetable, being able to supervise a whole class of up to 30 pupils / group or individual support with work set by the relevant teacher. You will also be able to help and answer pupils questions and manage pupil behaviour in line with academy policies and procedures. If supply cover is not required, you will support pupils’ education provision as Pastoral Support Mentor, working closely with pupils and the Support & Guidance Hub using ELSA as a strategy to support our pupils. You will help improve motivation, encourage re-engagement for learning and teach coping strategies, intervene and support when needed. You will be able to think on your feet, plan and resolve in an efficient and effective manner and have good communication and IT skills to meet arising tasks. Flexibility is essential as the organisation of cover will need to be arranged before the start of the academy day.
