About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Waking Night Support Worker to provide dedicated, overnight care for a child with very challenging behaviour in a solo-placement children's home in Walsall. This role is perfect for someone with a Level 3 or 4 qualification in Children and Young People or equivalent, who is passionate about supporting children with complex needs in a safe and nurturing environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the child receives the highest standard of care, support, and emotional guidance during night-time hours. Shifts are based on a 4 on 4 off rota with a start time of 10:30 pm and an end time of 8:30am. Key Responsibilities: Provide consistent, high-quality care throughout the night, ensuring the child feels safe, secure, and supported. Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours, implementing de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies that promote positive outcomes. Assist with the childs bedtime routine, including personal care where required, ensuring their dignity and well-being are always maintained. Monitor the childs behaviour, health, and emotional well-being throughout the night, documenting any significant events and providing detailed reports for the daytime staff team. Build a trusting and empathetic relationship with the child, offering reassurance, comfort, and guidance when needed. Maintain a safe and secure environment, adhering to all safeguarding and health and safety procedures. Work closely with other team members, including day staff, to ensure continuity of care and support for the child. Requirements: Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent is essential. Previous experience working with children who exhibit challenging behaviours is essential. Experience in a solo placement or residential setting is highly desirable. Proven experience in managing challenging behaviours with patience, resilience, and empathy. A valid UK driving licence is required for any transportation needs. You must be a calm, resilient individual who can think on your feet and respond to unpredictable situations with empathy and professionalism. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report observations, as well as communicate effectively with other team members and professionals. Why Join Us?
