Insight Investment seeks a dynamic and motivational manager to lead a cross-functional product team formed by merging our Application Infrastructure and Core Data Infrastructure teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, regulated environment, addressing team motivation and spearheading initiatives to modernise our technology estate and operational practices.
The role involves managing and mentoring both onshore and offshore team members to ensure seamless 24/7 support of critical applications while driving product innovation and delivery
Role Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Motivation:
* Inspire and motivate the team to achieve high performance, even in complex and challenging situations.
* Foster a positive and inclusive team culture.
* Implement strategies to reduce turnover and increase employee engagement.
* Line manage Analysts, Developers, Data Engineers, and Quality Engineers
Technical Expertise:
* Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Windows Server and Azure environments.
* Possess in-depth knowledge of modern data architecture, including the underlying components and patterns.
* Stay updated with the latest advancements in technology and data management practices.
* Contribute to team delivery efforts – undertaking Analysis, Design, Development or Testing as appropriate.
Delivery
* Own the delivery of complex solutions against delivery plans.
* Contribute to product roadmaps – in particular ensuring roadmaps are realistic and include sufficient time for technical debt / support activities.
* Organise and facilitate events where required to keep the team functioning as an agile unit.
* Remove impediments and escalate, where required.
* Co-ordinate cross team dependencies and collaboration, e.g. with our Architecture and Data Management Office teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
* Lead and manage the integrated support and development team to deliver high-quality products and services.
* Facilitate collaboration between team members with diverse skill sets to enhance product development and support.
* Promote a shared vision and common goals across the team.
Modernisation & Continuous Improvement:
* Lead initiatives to modernise the technology estate and operational practices, leveraging the latest technologies and best practices.
* Drive digital transformation projects within the team.
Knowledge Growth & Career Development:
* Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
* Mentor and coach team members to achieve their professional goals.
Operational Management:
* Ensure 24/7 operational support is provided effectively, including managing shift schedules for onshore and offshore teams.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs), evidencing stability and continuous improvement.
Cost Control & Efficiency:
* Implement cost control measures for out-of-hours support to optimise budget.
* Ensure solutions are delivered with cost monitoring and attribution baked in so that drift can be effectively managed.
* Regularly review and adjust cost strategies to ensure financial efficiency.
Risk Management & Compliance:
* Ensure all operations comply with financial regulations and industry standards.
* Implement and enforce policies to manage and mitigate risks.
* Conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder Management:
* Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Communicate effectively with senior management on KPI’s, operational SLA’s and team performance.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
Experience Required
* Proven experience in managing operational support and development teams, preferably in complex data orientated environments.
* Strong leadership and motivational skills.
* Experience in driving modernization of both technology estates and operational practices.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Ability to manage 24/7 support operations, including onshore and offshore team members.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Familiarity with financial regulations and risk management practices.
* Demonstrated ability to implement cost control measures effectively.
* Expertise in Windows Server and Azure environments.
* Well-versed in modern data architecture and related technologies.
* Capacity to work effectively in ambiguous situations with unpredictable events.
* The role will require travel between our Manchester and London offices.
