General Summary:
This position reports to the Heritage Lead Mechanic or their designee; is located in Banbury, UK. Responsible for the assembly, servicing, and repair of the team's Race Cars, Heritage Cars, Show Cars, associated parts, and pit equipment. Expected to attend all Heritage Car associated events.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
2. Responsible for the build, condition, and maintenance of all Sub Assembly related items on the Heritage cars.
3. Mentor, train, and guide personnel as required.
4. Develop staff and department processes to enable efficient workflow.
5. Demonstrate a company-focused attitude to organize and guide your team whilst keeping morale high under difficult circumstances or tight deadlines.
6. Report reliability issues as they occur and seek advice before undertaking any out of the ordinary tasks.
7. Maintain cleanliness and condition of your work area.
8. Follow Engineering procedures and protocols as dictated by the Haas F1 Team pertaining to assembly, operation, and safety.
9. Accountable for the build, condition and maintenance of sub-assembled components ensuring that they are consistently built to the highest standards and correct build specifications.
10. Responsible for the assembly of the teams Heritage cars to correct specifications and allocations.
11. Manage stock levels of components, spares, and consumables, working closely with the Race Team to ensure minimum trackside quantities are always met.
12. Align with the Heritage Lead Mechanic to ensure all relevant specs of sub-assembly components are packed or built in readiness for Heritage events.
13. Accountable for the parts, spare parts, tooling, garage equipment, and other operational equipment associated with Heritage projects.
14. Work closely with the Design Office and Reliability Engineers on faults to ensure all actions/remedies are in place.
15. Have a good understanding of all car parts, processes, and procedures.
16. Follow Lifing and UIIL requirements to ensure full compliance in line with the regulations and team’s expectations.
17. Assist and support chosen departments to facilitate Turnarounds, Engineering Projects, Car Builds, and Event Support.
18. Assist in the planning and managing of any rig testing throughout the season.
19. Ensure the teams Show Cars and Race Bay presentation meets corporate branding guidelines.
20. Expected to undertake NDT training and certification to support events if required.
21. Support the Race Team and RTS Departments when required.
22. Expected to be able to take part in Pit Stops.
23. Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
24. Other duties as assigned by the Heritage Lead Mechanic or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:
GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including trade school or university degree desired. Previous experience in a similar mechanical role within Formula 1, World Sports Cars, or F2 is preferred – however, consideration will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate professionalism and a sound record of service within the Motorsport Industry.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
1. Strong problem solving and logical thinking skills.
2. A comprehensive mechanical understanding gained in Formula 1 motor racing.
3. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and information.
5. Basic fabrication and machining skills.
6. Ability to work under pressure and in time-sensitive situations.
7. A can-do positive approach and willingness to help others.
Equipment and Applications:
Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and 3DX. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow complex regulations related to shipment of materials and facility maintenance requirements.
Work Environment Physical Demands:
An ability to work and prioritize within a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require extensive domestic and international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting, and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
