The Havens is London's Sexual Assault Referral Centre, providing comprehensive forensic, medical, and aftercare services to clients who have experienced serious sexual assault within the past 12 months. We are a longstanding partnership initiative between the Mayors' Office for Policing and Crime and NHS England.
The CYP Psychology Service at the Havens offers specialist psychological assessment and short to medium term interventions to children and young people (CYP) and their families presenting with psychological difficulties post-sexual abuse. The service also conducts forensic interviewing of CYP and engages in audit, research, and training, maintaining close links with local Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programs for core and elective placements.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist to lead a warm, proactive therapies team that prioritizes evidence-based and trauma-informed care. The team encourages creativity, welcomes diversity, and appreciates ideas for service improvement.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Develop, co-ordinate, and ensure the systematic provision of a psychology service to children, young people, and their families attending the Havens.
2. Provide highly specialist clinical input and contribute to creating a psychologically safe environment.
3. Offer clinical supervision and consultation, functioning as a lead specialist in psychological assessment and intervention with children and families who have experienced sexual assault/abuse/exploitation.
4. Ensure effective systems for clinical and professional supervision of other psychologists within the CYP Psychology Service.
5. Undertake service evaluation, audit, research, and policy development.
6. Work autonomously within BPS and HCPC guidelines, interpreting policies within defined parameters.
7. Agree outcomes/results with the clinical/professional lead and decide on the best methods to achieve them.
8. Advise the lead CYP psychologist and Head of Psychology and Counselling service on aspects of service delivery.

Job Responsibilities
1. Develop, co-ordinate, and ensure the systematic provision of a highly specialist psychology service to children, young people, and their families attending the Havens.
2. Provide highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions for clients in the CYP Psychology Service.
3. Conduct specialist assessments and clinical formulations for children and adolescents who have experienced sexual assault, rape, or exploitation.
4. Deliver evidence-based brief interventions for affected children and adolescents, monitoring outcomes and adapting interventions as necessary.
5. Undertake liaison psychology with The Havens and borough services.
6. Provide culturally appropriate psychological interventions with carers or families of referred clients when required.
7. Assess and monitor risk and develop appropriate risk management plans.
8. Develop and co-ordinate a psychology-led forensic interview service in collaboration with the Metropolitan police.
9. Prepare written reports, including court reports as a professional witness.
10. Work autonomously within HCPC and BPS guidelines, taking full responsibility for treatment and discharge decisions.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent).
* Additional training in a specialized area of psychological practice relevant to working with child sexual abuse/exploitation.
* Completed training course in clinical supervision.
* Trained in evidence-based interventions for PTSD in children and young people.
* Training in forensic interviewing according to Achieving Best Evidence Guidelines.
Knowledge and Experience
* Highly developed knowledge of specialized psychological therapies for childhood sexual abuse/exploitation.
* Advanced theoretical knowledge of psychopathology and evidence-based treatment.
* Experience in supervising assistant and trainee psychologists.
* Experience of working with diverse communities and implementing service development projects.
Skills and Competencies
* Deliver psychological therapy across cultural differences.
* Communicate complex information sensitively with clients, carers, and colleagues.
* Plan and schedule assessments and interventions effectively.
* Manage emotionally stressful situations and verbal aggression.
* Expertise in administering psychometric tests.
