Yodel is looking to hire a passionate Senior Buyer managing logistics third-party contracts and suppliers approx. £50m+ annually. You will be covering various subcategories such as fuel, subcontractor middle and final mile carries, fleet maintenance and repair, and materials handling, making procurement recommendations and implementing changes.
This brilliant opportunity is based in Liverpool but will involve a mixture of working from home and in the office. You will be required to travel occasionally to other locations/supplier meetings across the UK.
What you'll be doing
The Senior Category Buyer will form an integral part of the Procurement function, delivering contractual and project initiatives. The successful candidate will develop, manage, and implement category strategies that support Yodel's business needs and align with organisational objectives, values, vision, and goals. You will develop and implement sustainable and innovative procurement strategies that drive best value, working collaboratively with colleagues across various functions to maximise business benefit.
You need to have a sound understanding of legal terms and conditions in relation to the supply of services, with the ability to draft supply agreements and amendments to terms, working with Yodel's Legal team to protect business interests. You will need to maintain an excellent understanding of the environment/market within which the category of supply operates, and the risks and opportunities presented by the dynamics of that environment. Additionally, you will monitor/benchmark the supply market to identify potential new innovations, suppliers, and services, and meet with suppliers to understand their products, skills, and experience. In addition to these duties, you will be responsible for the following:
1. Support and input to the wider team, ensuring safe delivery of the overarching procurement strategy and governance framework (ESG, DG's, Supplier Code etc.) across the entire third-party supply chain.
2. Conduct a full sub-category review of the allocated categories across the business, developing and implementing an end-to-end strategy to deliver operational efficiencies, sustainability improvements, identification of critical supply with risk mitigation, development of SRM with preferred/critical suppliers, and opportunity analysis delivering ROI value for stakeholders and ultimately Yodel.
3. Monitor, measure, and manage the third-party supply chain using a best-in-breed eProcurement S2C advanced technology solution.
4. Engage with key stakeholders across the business, ensuring timely delivery on various projects allocated across the spend categories of logistics that meet business expectations.
5. Develop strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels, acting as the procurement business partner delivering a best-in-class procurement service and providing trusted expertise.
6. Proactively seek out areas for continuous improvements and cost reduction within the supply chain, presenting business cases for change with best total value options for Yodel, which positively affect operational efficiencies and profitability.
7. Provide guidance/support to all team members within the procurement function.
What you need to show us
The successful Senior Category Buyer must be digitally proficient and commercially savvy. You will be responsible for engaging with key stakeholders across the business and externally, ensuring timely delivery on various projects that meet business expectations. You will need to show demonstrable experience of managing complex service contracts and working with suppliers and internal stakeholders through pre and post-contract management activities. The successful candidate will also need to possess the following experience and knowledge:
Experience
1. Substantial category management experience from within a services sector.
2. Experience in a procurement contract managed environment working closely with legal, finance, and HSEQ.
3. Experience using eProcurement software for sourcing, contract management, supplier performance, and risk management.
4. Experience in complex RFx assessment and award methodologies.
5. Experience in report writing such as RFx, business cases ROI, recommendations, position papers, pre-market discovery, and opportunity analyses.
6. Experience in supplier spend data interrogation and cost analysis (TCO).
7. Experience in commercial analysis and working with various cost models.
8. Experienced in managing multiple, high-value and complex procurement projects to successful completion.
Knowledge
1. Knowledge of sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
2. Good working knowledge of the procurement lifecycle.
3. Good working knowledge of legal T&C's.
4. Good working knowledge of SRM and TPRM application thereof.
5. Good understanding of supply financial health and risk management principles.
6. MCIPS is desirable.
