Your new role
In this role, you will support the Despatch Operations Manager and contribute to the efficiency of both export and UK despatch operations. This opportunity offers the chance to develop your expertise while ensuring smooth daily operations, driving process improvements, and supporting long-term succession planning within the department. As the Assistant Warehouse & Logistics Manager, you will:
* Oversee daily warehouse activities to ensure efficient and effective operations.
* Assist in planning and implementing warehouse layout for optimal space utilisation.
* Maintain stock accuracy through regular audits and cycle counting.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Support the coordination of inbound and outbound logistics to meet customer and business demands.
* Work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, and transport companies to ensure timely deliveries.
* Monitor and analyse logistics performance to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
* Ensure accurate documentation for shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.
* Supervise, train, and mentor warehouse and logistics staff to ensure high performance and motivation.
* Assist with workforce planning, including shift management and workload distribution.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
* Identify opportunities to improve warehouse and logistics processes for increased efficiency.
What you'll need to succeed
* A background in Logistics Management within a manufacturing environment, including distribution, transport and export experience.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Able to quickly pick up new systems, and experience of using ERP systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience of working within a warehousing setting.
* Understanding of export customs procedures/documentation.
