The Senior Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician will play an integral role in the Pan GM Medicines optimisation team in shaping the future of pharmacy and medicines optimisation across Greater Manchester.
Through previous experience, knowledge and skills, the post holder will quickly build credibility with partners to enable NHS GM to be assured of high quality, safe services.
They will motivate, inspire and work collaboratively to support the transformation and maturing of NHS GM. They will support the development, coordination and delivery of the Medicines Optimisation/Pharmacy Strategy and associated operational plans for Greater Manchester and will bring knowledge and experience, sufficient to support the delivery of integrated working, transformational change and will take the lead and manage technical input in a complex and dynamic public sector environment and across organisational boundaries.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary groups across GM, including Greater Manchester Medicines Management Group (GMMMG).
2. Ensure the successful delivery of CIP targets and support the implementation of quality initiatives and standards for multiple health and social care sectors.
3. Work closely with the Cluster Lead Technicians and Place-based medicines optimisation teams to support the development and successful implementation of the medicines optimisation strategy and associated operational plans across GM.
4. Monitor team and individual progress against workstreams.
5. Actively seek, identify, approve & implement new workstreams required to achieve the overarching objectives of the medicines optimisation team.
6. Develop and implement policies and procedures for internal and external use.
7. Work at a GM and regional level to support the implementation of policy and process for medicines optimisation teams.
8. Interpret data and explain prescribing, financial and quality data to internal and external stakeholders.
9. Create, maintain, monitor and update prescribing support tools and support software.

6. Analyse and interpret service issues and compare a range of options.
7. Utilise computer software to create statistical reports.
8. Update, maintain, and analyse information to meet future organisational needs.
9. Lead or contribute to the creation, maintenance and monitoring of prescribing support software.
10. Contribute to the strategic planning of team projects.
11. Responsible for monthly development and implementation of the assigned portfolio operational work-plan.
12. Develop and implement policies supporting the technical arm within the medicines optimisation team.
Person Specification
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
QUALIFICATIONS
* Management/leadership experience or qualification.
* Experience and knowledge to post graduate diploma level or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
* Experience of prescribing data analysis
* Experience in project management, and/or supporting change management processes
