Your new role
As a Policy and Engagement Officer, you will play a crucial role in acting as the first point of contact for stakeholder enquiries and assisting the team by conducting research and providing policy advice.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Acting as the first point of contact for stakeholder enquiries.
* Providing information, advice, and guidance, including referrals to relevant services.
* Engaging with all contacts in a sensitive, professional, and trauma-informed manner.
* Using a case management system to record engagement data.
* Ensuring the secure handling of complex and sensitive information in compliance with Data Protection legislation.
* Collating, analysing, and preparing draft information to support key functions.
* Contributing to policy and research development through information gathering.
* Monitoring contacts and enquiries, and producing statistical reports.
* Supporting the development of communications and media monitoring.
* Utilising social media and other platforms to promote the work of the Commissioner.
* Assisting with the establishment and running of the Advisory Panel.
What you'll need to succeed
* Experience in an engagement role, with knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
* Experience in policy development and drafting high-quality written materials.
* Ability to identify and use evidence and research to support policy development.
* Experience in managing data, including personal data, to the highest standards.
* Skills in drafting communication materials for various stakeholders.
* Ability to generate reports from statistical data.
* Proven ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively.
* Excellent computer skills, particularly in information management tools and software.
* Knowledge of the role of media, including social media, and the political landscape.
What you'll get in return
* This is a temporary position until December 2025, with the possibility of a 5-year extension.
* The salary ranges from £27,897 to £28,483 per annum.
* Hybrid working, 2 days in office.
* 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
