Why choose our Client?
Our client is a small collection of individual, family-run hotels and a golf club in Suffolk. With sites in both the rolling Suffolk countryside and by the sea, clientele can vary between sites however the group’s mission remains the same; to ensure all their guests have the best possible hospitality experience with them. This includes the dining experience.
What’s involved?
As the Group Training and Development Chef, you will oversee the training and development of all members of the kitchen teams, between all sites in the group. This includes creating and delivering training courses and mentoring apprentice chefs alongside their Head Chefs.
Working closely with each of the hotels Head Chefs, it is your job to ensure that all chefs in the group are trained to the highest level to meet the skills required for their job, therefore ensuring consistency in the service being delivered to guests as well as to assist their own personal growth and development within the company. Collaborating with the Head Chefs, you will ensure the latest food trends and cooking methods are implemented within the teams, as well as kitchen management protocols.
This will be a hands-on role, working in each of the kitchens amongst the teams to ascertain where the current chef’s skill levels sit and what areas to focus training on, both individually and as a team. From there, you will create a calendar of training masterclasses to be held either within their kitchens or at the groups dedicated training centre in Leiston, so you should be a good communicator with a passion for all things food!
In addition to working with the current team, you will be proactive and have the future chefs in mind too; developing and maintaining relationships with the local schools, colleges and universities and attending shows and competitions to attract the next generation of talented chefs, as well as mentoring the trainee apprenticeships alongside their Head Chefs.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with operational Head Chef experience within the hospitality industry, and who wants to use their previous experience and knowledge to help develop others.
Whilst some of your time will be office-based to work on creating training courses etc, its worth pointing out that this is not a 9-5 role. You will, however, be in charge of your own rota, working 5 days per week, including evenings and weekends.
Whilst staff accommodation is not available with this role, short term accommodation could be arranged for a couple of months to help with relocating to the area, if needed. All candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
