Location: Wakefield (any) Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Permanent/Fixed-Term Hours: 8:30am-15:30pm Start Date: ASAP Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching and learning across schoosl. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, providing high-quality support to pupils, leading whole-class sessions, and assisting in planning and delivering lessons. Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning Support: Plan, prepare, and deliver learning activities under the direction of the class teacher. Cover classes in the teacher’s absence, ensuring continuity of learning. Support individual and small group interventions to raise attainment. Assess pupils' progress and provide feedback to teachers. Classroom & Behaviour Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment. Manage pupil behaviour effectively following the school’s policies. Provide pastoral support to pupils when necessary. Curriculum Support: Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons. Support teachers in assessing and recording pupil progress. Contribute to the development of teaching materials and resources. General Duties: Participate in staff meetings and training sessions. Communicate effectively with parents and carers when required. Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils in line with school policies. Person Specification Essential: ✔ HLTA qualification or equivalent experience. ✔ Experience working with primary-aged children in a classroom setting. ✔ Strong understanding of the National Curriculum. ✔ Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively. ✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ✔ A commitment to safeguarding and child protection. Desirable: ✔ Experience leading whole-class teaching. ✔ Additional qualifications in SEND or EAL support. ✔ First Aid training.
