Astell Associates has been established near Aberdeen, Scotland, since 1974. We are arboricultural and ecological consultants, and have been involved in hundreds of projects all over Scotland for a wide range of clients. We undertake tree surveys and advise on tree management, and carry out ecological surveys including bat surveys, habitat surveys and protected species surveys.
A large part of our work is enabling construction to take place in a way that will mitigate the consequences of development in ecologically sensitive areas, and improving the built environment. Many ecologists find this kind of work challenging as it may conflict with their ideals. It requires a pragmatic, problem-solving approach and good communication with clients to achieve the best solutions possible for all the parties involved.
Due to the late withdrawal of a successful candidate from earlier advertising, we are recruiting a full-time Senior Ecologist with a degree in ecology and experience managing ecology-related projects. Additional training will be provided, but you should be able to undertake project work and surveys independently, and oversee a small team of ecologists.

4. Liaise with clients and conservation bodies to achieve best solutions to possibly conflicting interests.
