Job summary
University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (Bristol site) seeks applicants for Post-F2 Clinical Education Fellows to commence in August 2025 for one year.
These posts provide an ideal opportunity for the successful candidates to work in a busy inner city university hospital and be part of the Postgraduate Medical Education Faculty. Successful candidates will be actively involved in a personalised post aimed at developing the candidate's skills and interests. This includes opportunities in organising and delivering undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education and research.
The posts comprise 50% clinical service and the other 50% of the time will be individualised giving you the opportunity to develop your CV in undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education, research and/or service development. There may be the opportunity to spend this time in the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre, subject to interview.
The post also includes home fees paid to study for a Postgraduate (PG) Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Bristol's Health Professions Education (HPE) department.
The appointments will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Trust grade Doctors (2017) and may be subject to amendment.
Main duties of the job
Duties will involve the ward based care of patients who have been admitted to hospital with a wide range of acute medical problems. The clinical aspect to the post is split with dedicated blocks as part of the Respiratory junior team in Respiratory Medicine (including patients on Respiratory High Care), and Care of Elderly. Study leave will be provided in accordance with Trust guidelines for CMT ST1/2 posts.
In 2020 a new Complex Medicine in Older People CMOP 4th Year undergraduate curriculum was commenced by the University of Bristol. South Bristol Academy (based at the BRI) currently supports two blocks of 25-30 students for 18 weeks each. The post holder will be responsible for delivering the core curriculum, Case Based Learning, Tutorial, SIM, OSCE and bedside teaching as well as supporting the 54 Consultant Tutors to provide pastoral support and assessment of the students. There are also opportunities to help with teaching the 3rd and 5th year students and medical school exams.
The post holder will rotate on and off Education/Respiratory/Education/Care of the Elderly wards one month at a time.
Educational supervision will be provided by Dr Rachel Bradley (Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly, CMOP Tutor), with additional support for Leadership and Quality Improvement projects, as appropriate.

* Experience of acute clinical medicine
* Experience of specialty care (in particular Care of the Elderly in the UK)
* Experience of undergraduate training within the UK
* At least 2 years of employed NHS clinical experience
