This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Consultant to join our dynamic team. Reporting to our Principal Consultant in Behaviour Change, the role will primarily involve supporting project delivery within Behaviour Change and Waste Strategy, helping clients achieve their environmental and social goals. Additionally, you will collaborate across teams, contributing to a wider range of projects to support our broader mission of creating a more sustainable future. With Behaviour Change, you’ll use your sound communication and analytical skills to help clients understand what is driving existing behaviours, gathering insights to inform change. You’ll be a natural communicator both in verbal delivery and written environments and understand how to adapt data for presentation to suit the needs of varying audiences. With Waste Strategy, you will help guide local authorities towards sustainable resource management. You’ll need to be excellent with numbers, have good attention to detail and be confident using MS Excel where you will undertake data analysis, research and modelling. Across all your work you will contribute to presenting project outputs in both written reports and client meetings including the communication of complex information to a range of audiences. Stakeholder engagement skills, such as supporting the facilitation of workshops and focus groups, and a good understanding of quantitative data analysis will therefore be essential. What you will be doing Project delivery work: Working on a broad range of projects, you will conduct data analysis and modelling using a high degree of academic rigour and attention to detail. You will also conduct desktop and primary research, facilitate stakeholder engagement activities and contribute to writing/developing reports, tools and other outputs as part of the work programme. Business development: All members of our team are involved in our business development activities. You will contribute to the preparation of proposals and assist in identifying new business such as potential new projects or funding opportunities. With other colleagues in the team, you will also work to improve existing services and products, and to develop new ones. Resources and autonomy: You will work to ensure that projects meet deadlines and are within budget. This will require you to work on multiple projects concurrently so good time management and resourcefulness will be essential. Client engagement: You will liaise with clients for project delivery, attending external meetings, focus groups, workshops and presentations and industry events as required. The essentials Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent training or experience. High level of numeracy and data processing skills. Effective communications skills with the ability to hold productive and professional discussions, write clearly and concisely and develop and deliver excellent presentations. Great time management and organisational skills. Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of a team. Ability to perform calmly under pressure. Ability to assimilate and analyse qualitative and quantitative data. Ability to synthesise information from a variety of sources and apply scientific methods. Highly competent IT user, particularly Microsoft Packages and a confident Excel user. A keen interest in sustainable resource use and development. Great to haves At least one year of experience in a waste management, recycling or sustainability related role. Some data modelling experience. Statistical analysis skills Experience of using GIS and spatial data management software. Experience of using qualitative data analysis tools such as NVivo for thematic analysis. Specific stakeholder engagement experience. Understanding of national waste policy landscape. Professional membership (e.g., CIWM, IEMA). Current full driving licence with own transport, and necessary business use insurance, or ability to travel easily around the South West England.
