They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Engineer to join their team at the Diss Site. The role will work on a double-day shift basis, but it will also involve some weekend and Bank holiday working when needs dictate. Full flexibility to cover sickness and holiday absence on other shifts is required, when appropriate.
Key job requirements
Working within a complex engineering environment, the Shift Engineer are responsible for providing a responsive engineering service to the site’s Operations Team to ensure that high levels of machine availability, efficiency, reliability, safety and quality standards are achieved and improved upon. They will be responsible for providing effective and long-term solutions to continuously improve machine reliability.
Other key elements of the role involve:
4. Identification and recovery of fault situations on all processing equipment and ancillary devices.
5. Monitoring and adjusting equipment and process conditions to ensure that 'right first time' quality is achieved.
6. Maximising equipment utilisation by carrying out effective preventative maintenance procedures, timely calibrations and routine safety checks on all processing equipment.
7. Promoting an environment of continuous improvement at all times and participating in process optimisation projects when appropriate.
8. Installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Applicants must be apprenticeship-trained/HNC-qualified in either or both electrical and mechanical disciplines and have extensive practical experience of the opposite skill where appropriate. Knowledge of working within a Manufacturing environment would be preferred.
To fully contribute to the team, the following skills are required:
Electrical
9. Practical experience and understanding of electrical isolation techniques
10. Fault finding in any manufacturing system
11. Fault finding on AC variable-speed drives (Lenze, Sew, Control Techniques, Siemens etc).
12. Fault finding on DC drives (Siemens, ABB, SSD etc)
13. Knowledge of Siemens S5, S7 and Allen Bradley PLCs.
Mechanical
14. Practical experience and understanding of mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic (and other) isolation techniques
15. Understanding hydraulic systems
16. Understanding pneumatic systems
17. Experience of steam systems an advantage
18. Experience of mechanical drive systems (power transmission)
19. General mechanical repairs
