A forward-thinking secondary school is seeking a Design Technology Technician to provide essential technical support within its Design Technology department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain and service DT equipment and machinery (e.g. laser cutter, 3D printer, lathe, saws).
* Prepare materials and set up equipment for lessons and practical projects.
* Support teachers and students during practical sessions.
* Organise and manage workshop tools, stock, and safety systems.
* Ensure all health & safety and COSHH regulations are followed.
* Contribute to extracurricular DT activities, clubs, and displays.
Ideal Candidate:
* Skilled in the use and maintenance of DT tools and machinery.
* Organised, safety-focused, and proactive.
* Enjoys supporting a creative and practical learning environment.
The School
This role is a full-time position in the school’s Design and Technology department. You will be teaching mixed ability classes across both KS3 and KS4. Year 7 and Year 8 classes follow a broad introduction to all Design and Technology subjects, focusing on basic skills in woodwork. From Year 9, students study Product Design through the AQA exam board, with a focus on woodwork and resistant materials.
You will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and learning, assessments, and coursework towards examination. You will join an established team in the technology department with good support and career development opportunities.
