The Role
We are seeking a Deputy Organics Manager to support and deputise for the Organics Manager in overseeing our laboratory operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our organisation while ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency.
Hours Per Week: 37
Days Per Week: Monday to Friday
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
Closing Date: 28th March 2025
The day to day
* Work closely with and deputise for the Organics Manager in all aspects of laboratory operations.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE, HR, Quality, Regulatory, and Accreditation standards and maintain adherence to internal ALS policies and procedures.
* Maintain and improve the company’s quality system, ensuring legally defensible results and ongoing compliance with auditing schemes.
* Drive capacity and process improvements to optimise laboratory efficiency and reduce production costs.
* Assist in the management of departmental costs, including preparing resource and Capex justifications to support financial targets.
* Monitor key client KPI performance to maintain the quality of analysis and meet client expectations.
* Ensure compliance with HR frameworks and workplace regulations.
* Develop technical capabilities within the section to support both client needs and internal business operations.
* Maintain CPD records and assessments to ensure continued professional development.
* Participate in the Duty Manager Rota to support key utility customers.
* Authorise test reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
* A track record of working across multiple functions to effectively address operational challenges.
* A commitment to innovation, with experience in implementing new procedures and solutions.
* The ability to communicate technical information effectively to auditors and regulators.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate scientific data and draw informed conclusions.
