Supervising the Air Imports to ensure the general day-to-day criteria and KPIs are achieved in a quick and efficient manner for all accounts.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and coordinate the full process of air import shipments, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
2. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on shipment statuses, addressing inquiries, and offering proactive solutions to any potential delays or disruptions.
3. Collaborate with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure the smooth flow of goods, managing any issues related to documentation, customs clearance, or logistical delays.
4. Oversee the billing, charging, costing, and arranging the movement of goods and consignments, assisting the team in the full import process for all shipments, from start to finish.
5. Manage and oversee imported goods for assigned accounts, ensuring customs clearances are obtained quickly and deliveries are made in good time.
6. Liaise with overseas offices, partners, and agents.
7. Ensure compliance with the customs regulations of the UK/EU, accurately transposing customs declaration information from documents into the customs brokerage system.
8. Accurately prepare and review critical shipping documentation including air waybills, customs declarations, and bills of lading, ensuring compliance with all international shipping and customs requirements.
9. Work closely with customs brokers to facilitate the timely clearance of shipments and ensure that all customs documentation is completed correctly and in line with global regulatory standards.
10. Continuously monitor and track shipments, identifying potential issues before they escalate and resolving discrepancies quickly and efficiently to avoid delays.
11. Assist in the billing and invoicing process, ensuring accuracy in the preparation and delivery of customer invoices, and managing any discrepancies related to billing.
12. Ensure all is in order in relation to import quotas, tariffs, trade agreements, and HM Revenue and Customs regulations.
13. Responsible for costing jobs and ensuring maximum profitability for the organisation.
Essential Skills & Experience:
1. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in air freight operations, specifically in air import management or a similar role within the logistics and supply chain sector.
2. Strong knowledge of international air freight regulations, customs procedures, and associated documentation, including experience with customs clearance and compliance processes.
3. Proficiency in freight management systems, ideally Cargowise.
4. Knowledge of customs import declaration procedures.
5. Knowledge of customs regimes and legislation.
6. Knowledge of classification, incoterms, valuation, and origin rules.
