The role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Mechanical Engineer role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants. Our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.
Day to day you'll:
1. Promote effective cooperation across Engineering and other functional teams.
2. Interface with customers and supply chain on design issues and assist with procurement specifications.
3. Ensure correct application of procedures, codes, and standards to technical and engineering activities.
4. Contribute to Product Safety Assessment and provide technical interface with stakeholders.
5. Conduct technical investigations and analysis for problem resolution and design improvements.
6. Drive process improvements within the operational/design lifecycle for quality and efficiency.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week, and can be based at either of our offices in Bristol, Warrington, Glasgow or Rosyth with hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer
Nuclear experience is not a requirement for this role. If you are someone who owns and delivers, who champions high performance and has the courage to challenge the status quo, then we would like to hear from you. We welcome applicants from all engineering backgrounds who are able to demonstrate the following:
1. Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
2. Knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice.
3. The ability to build strong and influential relationships with key stakeholders.
