We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Locum Consultant Neonatologist to join our friendly, dynamic, innovative and award-winning team at Singleton level 3 NICU to cover maternity leave. Singleton NICU provides a full range of neonatal critical care services for South West Wales catering to a birth population of approximately 10,000 per year.

This is an exciting time to join our neonatal team following the opening of a new state of the art Transitional Care and Special Care unit, freeing up space for further expansion of critical care capacity. The newly refurbished unit has excellent facilities and has one of the best family accommodations in Wales. We nurture a very pleasant working environment and are passionate about providing the highest standard of care. The unit has excellent benchmarked outcomes and is recognised for high quality innovative practices on antibiotic stewardship, family integrated care, neurodevelopmental follow up programme and predictive heart rate monitoring. The unit was the recipient of the 2017 NHS Wales Award for 'Improving Quality Together' methodology and was the only UK unit to be invited to showcase practices at the VON Annual Quality Congress in 2017.

Singleton is a University Teaching Hospital allied to the College of Medicine at the rapidly expanding Swansea University and is a designated training unit for higher specialist training in Wales. Person SpecificationQualifications
* Registered with GMC
* Licence to practice
* On Specialist Register with GMC AND CCT in Paediatrics (Neonatal medicine) or equivalent
* MRCPCH or equivalent
Experience
* Evidence of an ability to develop effective working relationships, on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis with all levels of staff.
* Evidence of working with management and clinical colleagues to improve a service.
* Values partnership with other agencies.
* Evidence of teaching and training of post/undergraduate clinical staff.
* Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing audit.
* A subspecialist interest within Neonatology that would complement the interests of other consultants within the department.
* Evidence of experience of undertaking and managing neonatal transport.
* Evidence of undertaking or participating in clinical research.
