An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Merseyside area. The main duties of the experienced Senior Traffic Engineer are: Design, develop, and implement Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) in accordance with relevant legislation and local authority policies. Plan and deliver School Street projects aimed at improving road safety around schools by reducing traffic congestion and encouraging active travel. Conduct traffic surveys, data analysis, and site assessments to inform the design and effectiveness of traffic management schemes. Collaborate with stakeholders, including schools, residents, local businesses, and elected members, to ensure community engagement and support. Prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation to support project delivery and regulatory compliance. Work closely with contractors and internal teams to oversee project implementation, ensuring works are delivered on time and within budget. Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented schemes and propose adjustments where necessary. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, legislation, and policy changes related to traffic management and road safety. Essential requirements for the Senior Traffic Engineer position: Proven experience in traffic engineering, particularly in developing and implementing TROs and School Street projects. Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Road Traffic Regulation Act and Traffic Signs Regulations. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret traffic data and provide practical solutions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders and present technical information clearly.
