The Role
The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Robotics and Autonomous Systems. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading Engineering Schools in the UK.
The successful candidate will join a renowned team of experts in robotics, control, and autonomous systems. Our School has a strong track record of national and international research collaborations, with strategic partnerships in key areas such as human-robot interaction, intelligent automation, autonomous vehicles, and robotics for extreme environments.
As robotics and autonomous systems continue to transform multiple industries—from advanced manufacturing and healthcare to energy and transport—we seek an individual who will drive innovation in key areas such as:
1. Multi-Agent Systems – Coordination and collaboration control among multiple agent systems for complex task execution
2. Verification, Validation and Trust of Machine Learning systems for Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) of autonomous systems
3. Defense Systems – Developing advanced robotic and autonomous solutions for defense and security applications
4. Information Fusion and Vision Systems – Integrating sensor data and AI-driven perception for enhanced situational awareness in autonomous systems
5. Human-Machine Teaming and Human-Machine Interaction
6. Machine learning and control optimization of autonomous vehicles in complex environments and extreme environments such as space exploration, marine robotics, or disaster-stricken areas
