We are currently recruiting for a Gully Operative to play a key part in delivering a high-quality service to our customers. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and thorough cleaning of gullies across the highway network, contributing to the smooth operation of Essex’s roads. Your work will align with the strategies and policies of the County Council and Essex Highways, ensuring compliance and excellence in service delivery.
Strong customer service skills are essential, as you will be expected to uphold the highest standards within the team. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities will help ensure all interactions are handled professionally, with customers fully informed about the services and standards the Council provides.
The Role
1. Gully cleaning on carriageway defects.
2. Good knowledge and understanding Essex highway network.
3. Cleaning chambers and catchment pits.
4. Undertaking thorough vehicle inspections.
5. The use of a Gully vehicle.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A current, valid driving licence is essential, with LGV Class 2 entitlement highly desirable.
2. Road marking experience using hot thermoplastic material.
3. New Roads and Street works or NHSS 12 training and qualifications would be highly beneficial.
4. Experience in the use of handheld technology (PDAs, Smartphones, etc) would be advantageous but not essential.
5. Local knowledge of the county would be beneficial.
6. Knowledge of gully maintenance and scheme works.
7. A good understanding of health, safety, and its impact on the workplace.
