An exciting opportunity is open for an experienced, motivated and independently minded leader who is able to act on their own initiative within agreed guidelines, adopting values led "can do" leadership style within a climate of change to implement and manage the plans and performance of the Directorate under the direction of the Directorate Manager.
In addition to the day to day management of the Directorate, the post holder will competently deputise for the Directorate Manager, ensuring the service is seamlessly progressed and not compromised.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Directorate Manager, the post holder is expected to contribute with the senior management team to ensure operational plans and performance are closely managed, by proactively leading and providing solutions to resolve difficult operational issues, in accordance with agreed University Health Board objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints, promptly escalating issues which are unable to be resolved.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Master's level or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience in administration/management or relevant subject matter.
* Management qualification or demonstrable management skills including effective people management including performance management and development.
* Significant experience within an NHS environment or complex organisation.
* Experience of analysing and interpreting information to identify and manage variances in performance and identifying solutions to deliver improvement.
Experience
* Experience of business planning.
* Ability to perceive impact of actions on the decisions and activity of others.
* Able to work hours flexibly as required by the service.
Skills
* Demonstrable understanding of service improvement, evaluation and redesign.
* Able to prioritise and manage the ongoing work of services and/or projects.
* First class interpersonal skills with ability to gain and sustain credibility with clinicians/managers.
* Able to present well-reasoned and structured argument orally and in writing.
