Job Description:
Religious Studies Teacher Required - Kingston Secondary School
The Role: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Religious Studies across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Planning and delivering engaging and informative lessons that are aligned with the national curriculum, the school's RE syllabus, and cater to students of all faiths and none.
2. Creating a respectful and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, open dialogue, and critical thinking about religious beliefs, practices, and ethical issues.
3. Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs.
4. Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including sacred texts, philosophical debates, and contemporary issues, to enhance students' understanding of religion and its impact on the world.
5. Collaborating with colleagues within the Humanities department to develop and enhance the curriculum and share best practices.
The Successful Candidate will have:
1. A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related field.
2. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
3. A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Religious Studies curriculum.
4. Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for religious studies.
5. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
