Job summary The Facilities Department are looking to recruit hardworking, enthusiastic individuals to join our Portering Services Team, at Arrowe Park Hospital. The role of the Porter is to support the smooth day to day operational running of our hospital through assisting patient flow that will provide a safe healthcare environment that meets our patient's expectations. Provide a high quality, efficient portering service as a member of a dedicated team to support services within the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust at the Arrowe Park or Clatterbridge sites. Work in a manner that demonstrates the Trusts core values and behaviours to support a positive patient experience Understanding of how the role contributes to infection prevention and control within the healthcare environment Communicate with patients, staff and colleagues in a professional and polite manner Main duties of the job The successful candidates will be required to: Perform portering duties in allocated areas of the hospital site, including Pharmacy, Pathology, Radiology, Post Room, Waste Team, Goods Distribution Centre. Transport patients within the allocated hospital site in line with Trust policies and departmental procedures. Adopt a caring, polite and professional manner when transporting patients. Use of radios for communication with other members of the Portering team. Use of telephones and radios for allocation of daily duties. Safe collection and delivery of beds, blood products, specimens, pharmacy products, medical equipment, furniture and other equipment around the allocated hospital site(s). Ensure wheelchairs are cleaned after patient use. Use of departmental portering computer system.
