12 month Fixed Term/Secondment
This is an exciting new hybrid role that will involve working closely with the Labour ward manager, Matron's and Deputy Head of Midwifery to manage the maternity staff and resources within the ward/department areas to provide high quality and cost-effective clinical care. You will work closely with the Clinical Midwifery Manager (Intrapartum Matron) and the existing Band 7 midwives, to ensure that the Maternity Unit is operationally safe, effective and well led.

An extensive induction package is offered to successful candidates joining our Maternity services to ensure you are well supported and have time to adjust to working within our teams.
These roles are available at Royal Derby and Burton Hospital site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To manage the shift and have clinical responsibility for the area.
2. To provide clinical midwifery care to women within the Maternity Services.
3. To provide expert leadership advice to the maternity team.
4. To be proactive in the development of midwifery within the Maternity Unit.
5. To manage/lead a team of staff within maternity service.
6. To provide leadership to midwifery and non-midwifery staff, ensuring effective management of the daily activity and throughput within the maternity unit.
At Royal Derby Hospital There Are:
* 17 delivery rooms including one pool room and bereavement suite.
* Four bedded Midwife led birth centre.
* Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay.
Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite.
Samuel Johnson Community Hospital currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub.
