We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and high energy Food & Nutrition Assistant to join us at The Abbey Senior School.
Key responsibilities
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times
* Support and assist all department activities under the direction of the HOD Food and Nutrition
* Plan and prioritise work effectively
* Assist in the organisation and presentation of the Food and Nutrition classrooms
* Ensure all working areas and equipment within the department are fully prepared for practical lessons, plans for regular maintenance, hygiene and cleanliness checks are carried out and recorded as required
* Ensure the appropriate cleaning equipment is available for use and stored securely
* Ensure that all equipment is accounted for, in a safe hygienic place and replaced where necessary
* Complete appropriate administration tasks as required to include class lists, allergy registration
* Assist the students with the creation of their GCSE portfolio to include taking, editing, processing and uploading digital photographs for evidence
* Work alongside the Head of Department to deliver the Food Certificate Course
* Under the instruction of the Head of Department, undertake stock control, ordering and management
* Under the instruction of the Head of Department, undertake the preparation of materials for lessons, activities, displays and projects
* Under the instruction of the Head of Department, ensure that the kitchens are set up for practical lessons, demonstrations and activities
This is a fixed term position until August 2025. The working hours are 35 hours per week, term time only.
