The post holder will provide senior input to patients who have been admitted with a fragility fracture within trauma and orthopaedics, based at Warrington hospital. You will attend ward & board rounds and be responsible for the continuous care of patients as appropriate.
This post provides an excellent introduction to Medicine for those seeking to further clinical experience following foundation or core training. There are opportunities to gain experience with complex patient groups including Frailty, General Medicine and Trauma & Orthopaedics. Learning is supported through regular educational activities and the post is well suited for those preparing for membership exams, The role of the Trust Doctor is primarily to provide medical cover for the in-patients at Warrington & Halton NHS Foundation Trust
Responsibilities will include assessing Trauma & Orthopaedic patients who are 60 and above, care for patients on the ward under the direction of the consultants (such as history taking, performing physical examinations, managing problems such as chest and urinary tract infections, organising investigations, communicating with patients and their relatives/next of kin etc), supporting the discharge process, maintaining patient records on Lorenzo/EPR/ICE. Continuity of care and team-working are prioritised as teams of doctors, nurses and AHP staff look after patients from admission to discharge.
