POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will work cross-functionally with our Customers, Supply Chain, Logistics and Brokerage service providers and various Gates internal and external departments to optimize our Customs compliance and to reduce costs and improve quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Obtain and complete Valid NAFTA and other Trade Agreement forms for Customers / Suppliers and ensure component details are updated in Epicore for accuracy on the BOM for RVC Calculations (i.e. Origin, HS, End Use) - 25%
2. Exports to different Gates locations (tooling, components, etc.) prepared outside the ERP System. Exports to Suppliers for further processing and ensure TIB's are cancelled properly with US Customs. Ensure they are recorded accurately on the B13 Summary report as required - 25%
3. Work with Customs Brokers to properly classify and provide missing information on shipments from Suppliers to ensure Customs Compliance, submit B2 Amends as required (HVS, CLVS Shipments, Assists, Diversions, etc.) Imports from GTC, Research HS Codes / review rulings / Stats Canada Reporting. Work with supplier to reduce errors and encourage accuracy and compliance - 25%
4. Month end Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliation and Balance Sheet Reviews CDN & US Cash and US Cash Translation - 5%
5. Process accounts payable for Freight, Brokerage, Tooling (Freight Analysis) - 10%
6. Apply for Partner's In Protection - 5%
7. Customer Customs information is updated in ERP System in order to process sale shipments - 5%
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Certified Customs Specialist; or College Diploma or Degree in related field or equivalent.
* Education and knowledge in Accounting Concepts.
* Minimum five (5) years Customs experience - preferably in private industry.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Knowledge of supply chain operations, international trade regulations, and global trade compliance.
* Knowledge and experience with Partners in Protection (C-TPAT) programs.
* Knowledge of Incoterms and HS Classification of automotive products.
* Knowledge of BOM's and calculating RVC using the Net Cost Method for Various Trade agreements.
* Ability to review, analyze Customs accounting documents for accuracy.
* Experience in partnering with business leaders on developing and driving global initiatives.
* High Level interpersonal and leadership skills; must be able to influence and coach across multiple levels within the company and locations; including establishing global partnerships.
* Demonstrated business acumen.
* Strong proficiency with Microsoft and other ERP systems, such as Epicore and other export programs.
