NHSAA Active & Sustainable Travel Intern
The Intern will support and deliver activity across a range of actions aiming to increase walking, cycling, and sustainable travel for commuting and workplace travel, supporting transport modal shift from single-occupancy car travel in particular within East and South Ayrshire working closely with NHS and Travelsmart colleagues in North Ayrshire.
The ideal candidate will be well organised, a good communicator, approachable, confident and passionate about active and sustainable travel supporting NHS A&A core values of being Safe, Caring and Respectful.

* Salary: Real Living Wage
* Working pattern: hybrid
The successful candidate will need to be able to travel to various NHS sites across East and South Ayrshire.
The Role
The Intern will support and deliver activity across a range of actions aiming to increase walking, cycling and sustainable travel for commuting and workplace travel, supporting transport modal shift from single-occupancy car travel in particular within East and South Ayrshire working closely with NHS and Travelsmart colleagues in North Ayrshire.
Staff Engagement
* Research local routes and active travel provision to specific sites and collate info on e.g. availability of car clubs, community transport, e-bike loans, second-hand bikes to allow informed discussion with staff.
* Engage with a range of key NHS stakeholders including operational staff, management; and communicate with the active network of champions and supporters of active travel.
* Plan and organise information stalls/sessions to raise awareness about the benefits of active and sustainable travel across NHS sites (South and East Ayrshire).
* Offer support for staff with personalised travel planning.
Resources
* Work with colleagues to update current resources and develop new resources such as case studies, short films etc.
* Create promotional materials and campaigns to encourage cycling and active travel, utilising social media and other communication platforms.
Marketing and Communications
* Develop and implement an effective marketing and engagement plan.
* Support some of the smaller healthcare sites (where appropriate) with activity to allow application for Cycle Friendly Employer status.
* Attendance at meetings and collating information for reports to offer feedback as required.
Data Collection and Analysis
* Gather and analyse data on program impact and participation to help refine and improve future initiatives.
* Ensure that project reporting documentation is completed and processed on time.
* Record activity and provide updates to CESOG subgroup as required.
Other
* Comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures through attendance and completion of Corporate Induction requirements.
* Ensure that the project’s reach is inclusive, through engaging and supporting employees of all demographic, socio-economic and other protected characteristics groups.

Skills & Experience
* Experience in marketing and promotion.
* Experience in organising and/or promoting events.
* Good IT skills & knowledge of social media platforms.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
* Good organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Passion for cycling and commitment to helping others.
* Ability to develop productive working relationships at all levels especially with key workplace staff.
* Ability to plan and prioritise own workload.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree standard or equivalent.
Personal Attributes
* High level of integrity and commitment.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
