About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Business and Private Client Advisory division, which supports a range of small, medium, and large private businesses and family groups, along with some not-for-profit and foreign-owned businesses. We offer a wide range of services including accounting & tax compliance, business & tax advisory, structuring, superannuation, wealth management, and transactional services.
As an integral member of our close-knit team, you will be given exposure to a diverse range of clients and the opportunity to further develop and grow your skill set. You will manage, develop, and administer a portfolio of SW clients, ensuring you provide optimal service and produce a high standard of work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare individual, company, trust, and partnership tax returns, including:
* Preparation of Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements;
* Processing and managing Tax Office correspondence (e.g., assessments, instalments, and PAYG Tax variations);
* Preparation of Fringe Benefit tax returns;
* Prepare the complete set of financial accounts for all entities;
* Prepare and analyse standard management reports for clients (i.e., cash flow reports, budgets, etc.);
* Prepare workpapers, analyse client data and transactions, and set up accounts;
* Provide feedback, guidance, and technical support to junior team members;
* Prepare budgets and bills for services rendered;
* Identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities within client base;
* Assist with potential and new client opportunities or initiatives such as attending client meetings, preparation of advice, and presentations;
* Administrative compliance;
* Other duties as required by the firm such as interviewing clients, attendance at training, marketing, acting as a buddy / mentor to a new member of staff, special projects, etc.
Key Skills and Experience:
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Business Services environment in a Chartered / CPA accounting practice with exposure to tax issues and financial planning;
* Degree qualified and have commenced CA / CPA studies;
* Technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and accounting standards, systems, and processes;
* Previous experience working with and developing good relationships with clients;
* Good time management skills and ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines for a large group of clients;
* Proven ability to mentor and coach junior members of staff;
* Present professionally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
* Prior experience working with APS, Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and be competent in Microsoft Excel and MS Teams;
* Strong working knowledge of tax planning, GST, Business Activity Statements, and Instalment Activity Statements;
* Detailed knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures;
* Detailed understanding of company secretarial matters such as lodgements, fees, and general requirements.
