Due to growth, Wessington Cryogenics are now seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to join the QSHE Department who will be responsible for providing environmental support to the company’s ongoing operations and project support in accordance with ISO 14001.
The primary role is the development, maintenance and implementation of the company environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001. The Environmental Advisor is also required to support the company HSE Officer to gain ISO 45001 compliance.
The candidate must be knowledgeable of the required standards for environmental management. The position requires a wide knowledge of the required subject matters, and you will coach and mentor other safety/compliance staff within the team.
Required Skills:
* Environmental Regulations: Proficiency in the understanding and implementing of environmental regulations and standards, preferably in engineering.
* Risk Assessment: The ability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and develop strategies for mitigating them.
* Incident Response: Skill in managing and responding to environmental incidents, including conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions.
* Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively convey environmental policies, procedures, and training to personnel at all levels.
* Auditing and Compliance: Expertise in auditing operations for compliance with environmental requirements and the ability to develop and execute compliance improvement plans.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Provide advice and consultation to all departmental staff to assist them in maintaining a safe working environment in compliance with environmental regulations, standards and practices.
* Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, and undertake surveys to identify and evaluate environmental conditions.
* Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit environmental safe work practices.
* Perform factory site and/or area environmental inspections of department facilities and operations.
* Perform work permit reviews, environmental compliance inspections, including hazard analyses and safe work procedures, and prepare written reports and recommendations.
* Respond to emergency environmental situations and incidents, either during or after regular working hours, to provide technical assistance and advice.
* Participate in developing and promoting environmental educational programs to address safety issues or concerns.
Minimum Requirements:
* A qualification such as IEMA/NEBOSH Certificate, Diploma, Degree, (or equivalent) in Environmental Management.
* Evidence of successful implementation or management of an ISO 14001 standard.
* Internal auditor qualification in environmental discipline, such as ISO 14001.
* Experience with facilitating audits with third-party regulatory compliance.
