The role
Uppingham School has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) teacher to become a key member of our learning community.
As Head of Learning Support & SENCO in the lower school, you will be responsible for the strategic development of the School’s SEND provision for lower years, as well as oversee the day-to-day operations of the department.
Working closely with the Head of Learning Support, you will support the delivery of an excellent lower school SEND provision, whilst also contributing to the training and development of teachers to ensure that the needs of pupils with barriers to learning are accommodated in classrooms.
This is a multi-faceted and complex role, where you will be expected to work with families, young people with SEND and colleagues from across the school, ensuring that lower year’s pupils are provided with the appropriate support and access arrangements they need to fulfil their academic potential.
About you
We are looking for a personable and empathetic individual who has the vision, energy, and compassion to develop our vibrant Learning Support department. A Special Learning Difficulties (SpLD) Diploma or equivalent Level 5 qualification is essential for success in this role, whilst a Level 7 Assessor qualification would be desirable. Significant experience of working within a senior school would also be advantageous.
In addition to this, you will demonstrate a willingness to take part in our vibrant boarding and extracurricular programme.
