There are 6 positions available - 2 posts will attract no banding supplement as will be Normal Working days only Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, and 4 posts will participate on the full shift rota which will attract a banding supplement., Being part of the wider general Medicine team you will be required to participate in a full shift rota with prospective cover; the frequency of overnight on call will be approximately 1:9 to 1:23 depending on the sub specialty allocated to you.
Experience and training in acute, inpatient and outpatient care will be gained in a number of placements from: Diabetes & Endocrinology, Geriatric Medicine, Cardiology, Stroke Medicine, Respiratory Medicine and Gastroenterology whilst also getting wide experience and training in acute medicine, general medicine inpatient care and ambulatory care. You will provide medical cover of the Medical Assessment Unit and receive excellent experience in managing seriously ill patients with consultant supervision.
You will be expected to:
Support the Acute Medical intake
Cover designated patients on medical wards.
Provide Clinical Support to Foundation Programme Doctors
Participate fully in the Postgraduate Department activities and undertake CPD and audit (see below).
Teach Medical Students
Although this postis not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, audit and research will be encouraged and supported. There is an active Multi Professional Education Centre and Medical Staff are encouraged to use its facilities. There are also comprehensive Medical Libraries at all sites managed by Chartered Librarians.

The department of Medicine at Swansea Bay UHB are looking to recruit to several Junior Clinical Fellow posts with training in one of the following sub-specialties:
Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Acute Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Stroke Medicine, Renal, Haematology, Palliative Care, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases and Neurology.
These posts are on a fixed term basis for 12 months due to funding, Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.
