JobSummary:
ThePrincipal Planning Policy Officer will play a critical role insupporting Enfield Council as it advances the Local Plan throughits Examination in Public (EiP) andbeyond.
This seniorlevelposition is essential to ensure that the Council meets itsstatutory obligations in preparing consulting on and deliveringrobust planning policies that shape the future development of theborough.
AsEnfield moves through the EiP phase the role will be pivotal inproviding highlevel policy input managing the Council s engagementwith the Planning Inspectorate and responding to the complex andevolving requirements of the examinationprocess.
ThePrincipal Planning Policy Officer will be responsible for preparingtechnical evidence supporting Statements of Common Ground andliaising with key stakeholders including the Planning Inspectorategovernment agencies and the localcommunity.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities
This positionwill provide leadership within the Strategic Planning and Designteam guiding junior officers and ensuring the Council s planningpolicies align with national and regional planning frameworks. Thepostholder will also ensure the delivery of sustainable developmentoutcomes in line with Enfield s vision for growth rewilding housingprovision and infrastructuredelivery.
Given the highstakes of the Local Plan and its significance for the future ofEnfield securing a Principal Planning Policy Officer is a strategicnecessity to navigate the complexities of the Examination in Publicand to continue the development of sound planning policies thatwill shape the borough s longtermfuture.
Providinghighlevel policy advice and expertise on complex planning issuesrelated to the LocalPlan.
Leading theCouncil s response and representation at the Examination in Publicincluding preparation of evidence andstatements.
Managingconsultation processes and engagement with key stakeholdersincluding the Planning Inspectorate public agencies and localcommunities.
Ensuringcompliance with statutory requirements regional and nationalplanning policies and guiding the Council through the EiPprocess.
Leading a teamof officers in the delivery of the Local Plan ensuring consistencyaccuracy and alignment with Councilobjectives.
This role iscrucial to ensure that Enfield Council continues to meet its legalobligations and successfully progresses its Local Plan throughexamination delivering a framework that promotes sustainabledevelopment and meets the needs of the borough sfuture.
