Job Summary
As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals, particularly children, in their daily activities and promoting their overall well-being. Your responsibilities will include implementing care plans, providing emotional support, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and other professionals.
Duties
1. Work with children in the home, supporting them with their individual needs as outlined in their placement plan.
2. Ensure children are treated with dignity and respect.
3. Help children participate in the routines of the home and encourage them to take part in the activities and support on offer.
4. Promote education and support children to attend education and help them with their homework, and attend meetings where necessary. Where children are out of education, support them with educational activities and work toward education outcomes.
5. Promote well-being in the home by ensuring the environment is free from bullying, prejudice and a fair place to live.
6. Help children deal with conflict and trauma by supporting any therapeutic plans that are in place for them.
7. Work co-operatively and pro-actively as part of a team supporting colleagues and the manager.
Experience
- Experience of direct work or involvement with children as a paid worker, volunteer, carer or as part of a family.
Skills
1. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, able to present in an understanding way.
2. Ability to record information.
3. Able to manage time effectively planning own workload.
4. Good observation skills.
5. Able to work as part of a team.
6. Able to work with children with challenging behaviour.
Qualifications needed
1. Diploma Level 3 in Residential Childcare or be willing to work towards it.
2. Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent.
