Field Service Engineer
Hourly Rate: £12.45ph
Location: Wallasey Service Centre CH44 7HX – Full UK driving licence required
Full Time: 8:00 – 17:00 Mon-Fri
We are currently looking for Field Service Engineers to join the team within our Wallasey Service Centre, covering contracts in the following areas: Wirral, Wigan, Chester, Ellesmere Port, Liverpool, South Sefton & Southport and Formby. We welcome applications from people who reside in these areas. As a healthcare equipment provider, Ross Care works in partnership with the NHS to supply necessary equipment and aids to support people in their day-to-day life.
Job Purpose:
To enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service by completing initial training in the workshop reconditioning wheelchair equipment to gain essential product knowledge. Upon completion of initial training, you will work in the field delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs, with the expectation that most jobs will be completed on a first-time fix basis.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver and collect wheelchairs to and from service user’s homes and NHS departments, ensuring adherence to the Company Infection Control Policy.
2. Service and repair wheelchairs in the field aiming for a first-time fix whenever possible.
3. Ensure all paperwork relating to each job is completed accurately, including parts used and actions taken.
4. Use any PPE supplied as instructed.
5. Once fully trained, undertake out-of-hours responsibility when rostered.
6. Observe all regulations covering the driving and use of the Company vehicle.
7. Maintain a tidy vehicle and replenish necessary parts daily.
8. Conduct weekly vehicle safety checks.
9. Maintain a professional customer service attitude and wear your uniform and identification badge appropriately.
10. Prioritize and organize your workload, referring to your Line Manager as necessary.
11. Be responsible for the maintenance and safe keeping of all tools and equipment provided by the Company.
12. Agree to undertake all training necessary to maintain the skills required for this role.
Qualifications:
1. Full UK driving licence.
2. Successful enhanced DBS check.
3. General workshop knowledge.
4. Basic electrical knowledge including 12v/24v D.C. systems.
5. Able to move and handle loads and equipment safely.
6. Experience of face-to-face customer contact.
7. Previous delivery driver experience.
8. An awareness and understanding of people with disabilities.
9. Flexible approach to working conditions.
10. Ability to use own initiative within set boundaries.
11. Ability to use a mobile phone to relay photographs.
12. Good written and verbal communication skills.
13. Ability to relay clear instructions to clients.
14. Awareness of hand-held scanners.
Physical Demands of the Job:
1. Moving and handling of equipment and accessories following handling guidelines.
2. Standing at a bench to work.
3. Kneeling/crouching.
4. Working in confined spaces if necessary.
5. Use of ramps and other agreed moving equipment.
Most Challenging Parts of the Role:
1. Flexible working and responsiveness to changing priorities.
2. Availability for short notice overtime due to emergency response requirements.
3. Responsibility of out-of-hours duties.
