Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Starting after February 2025 Half-term

About the Role:
As an SEN School Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide individualised and group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to create a learning environment where every child feels valued, understood and supported.
SEN School Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEN, tailoring interventions to their individual needs.
2. Assist in the planning and delivery of structured learning activities, ensuring an engaging and accessible curriculum.
3. Implement behavioural and sensory support strategies, helping students to manage their emotions and interactions.
4. Encourage and support students in developing social skills, independence and self-confidence.
5. Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and external specialists to provide holistic support.
6. Adapt learning materials and classroom resources to meet students’ unique requirements.
7. Foster an inclusive and positive learning environment, promoting students' well-being and engagement.
8. Monitor and record students' progress, feeding back observations to the teaching team.
9. Assist with personal care and mobility support, if required, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for students.
SEN School Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:
1. Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a school or care setting.
2. A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) is desirable.
3. Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
5. A calm, patient and empathetic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
6. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
7. The ability to use positive behaviour management techniques to support students effectively.
8. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
