Food and Nutrition Technician Main Duties / Responsibilities
1. Preparing equipment and teaching areas for practical activities:
· Health & Safety is an essential role in preparation of a safe teaching environment.
· Prepare ingredients.
· Prepare for and clear away demonstrations.
· Ensure equipment is ready and available.
· Tidying up and checking equipment.
· Cleaning surfaces, cookers, sinks etc.
· Laundering of tea towels and dish cloths.
· Ensuring clean aprons are available.
2. Helping pupils to get the most of out of learning experiences:
· Supporting the teaching and learning.
· Assisting pupils with practical tasks.
3. Carrying out administrative and other functions related to the effective and efficient running of the department
· Stock control.
· Ordering ingredients, equipment etc.
· Checking deliveries.
· Photocopying, printing.
4. Maintaining equipment and teaching areas:
· Minimising the risk of bacterial contamination
· Ensuring a safe environment.
· Carrying out safety checks.
· Maintaining equipment.
· Assisting with hygiene and safety checks.
· Cleaning fridges and checking temperatures.
· Ensuring pupils ingredients and food products are stored at the correct temperature.
