Pay Rate: £12.92 per hour PAYE
37 hours Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 6-7 months

NPPV Level 2 Vetting Full – Valid for 3 years
Be available for 6 weeks training until 28th February - no A/L is to be taken during this time.
Fluent Welsh not required, but needs to have a basic level, level 1 or 2.
NB: Police Vacancy - only for candidates with a minimum of 5 years continuous UK address history. This vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure.
The role of a Communications Operator is one of the most rewarding and varied roles you are likely to have. No two days are the same; one minute you could be taking the details of a missing person, and the next you could be sending officers to reports of a robbery in progress.
Key responsibilities:
1. Initial investigation - you will be trained to ask initial questions to establish the risk/severity and identify any lines of enquiry or investigation such as evidence or forensic opportunities. You will manage the expectations of the reporting person by providing crime reduction advice and reassurance.
2. Partners - you will work with other emergency services and partner agencies, supporting their work and arranging for police involvement when needed.
3. Advice - many non-emergency calls received are resolved by the communication operators through offering advice or signposting members of the public to more appropriate agencies when it is not a matter dealt with by the police. You will manage expectations, advising what the police can and cannot do.
4. Recording intelligence - from information given by the communities, you'll identify and record information to share with other parts of the organization, informing our future policing operations.
5. Service delivery - you will be part of a professional team delivering good service by being focused and alert to deal with whatever the next call could bring, maintaining a professional standard amidst constant calls.
Qualifications:
1. NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in Communication/Business/Customer related field, or an equivalent amount of proven relevant experience.
2. Demonstrate a minimum of level 4/5 Welsh skills.
Knowledge:
1. Good geographical knowledge of North Wales.

1. Communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment or on your own initiative.
2. Ability to evidence problem-solving skills.
3. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
4. Computer literate to an intermediate level with Windows systems and/or relevant experience.
