As part of a trio of specialised nurses, you'll play a crucial part in supporting children with complex medical needs to access education. Your role and responsibilities You will: jointly train, monitor and supervise a team of 22 Specialist Learning Support Assistants in the medical interventions required to meet the needs of the CYP alongside the two current Care Co-ordinators work collaboratively with colleagues in education, health and social care, attending meetings where necessary. line managing a small team of SpLSAs and be responsible for their professional development assessment of competency in a variety of medical interventions in line with the service guidelines and assessment frameworks undertake relevant CYP school health care plans and risk assessments for CYP and staff in a variety of settings. You will need Current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration with child branch registration or RSCN diploma/degree A mentorship or teaching qualification (or willingness to undertake) Experience of working with CYP with complex medical needs and reliant upon technology such as tracheostomy, gastrostomy feeding, jejunostomy feeding, non-invasive ventilation, oral suction, oxygen therapy Experience of managing people You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (docx). The Team The team consists of 22 Specialist Learning Support Assistants who are matched one to one to CYP with complex health needs to enable them to access education. There are currently two Care Coordinators (one full time and one part time) who are Children's trained Nurses. The SpLSAs provide support for these CYP in a school setting, the home and other community settings.
