Quality Technologist (Global)

Are you passionate about ensuring products are safe, compliant, and high-quality? Claire's is searching for a dedicated Quality Technologist (Global) to join our team and contribute to the effectiveness of our Global Quality Team.
Working 3 days a week at our European HQ in Erdington, this role will play a vital part in ensuring the products we sell across North America and Europe meet the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Quality Technologist, you'll work closely with buyers and suppliers to ensure our products are legally compliant, safe, and meet customer expectations. You'll stay ahead of legal changes in the EU and NA, communicate updates to all stakeholders, and support our global quality functions. This hybrid role allows you to work three days a week from our Erdington HQ.
What You'll Be Doing
Quality & Compliance:
1. Ensure products are tested and documented to meet safety and legal standards.
2. Approve product orders on PEMS (EU).
3. Provide legal advice to buyers and internal teams as needed.
4. Liaise with enforcement authorities in the EU/NA on compliance and intellectual property issues.
Collaboration & Support:
1. Work with suppliers to improve quality standards and compliance.
2. Assist the NA/EU quality teams and provide product assessments with practical solutions.
3. Train regional and district managers on legal and quality standards.
Process Improvement:
1. Monitor and produce legal updates for the team.
2. Assist in developing product standards and testing protocols.
3. Identify and liaise with appropriate laboratories for product testing.
Leadership & Training:
1. Provide training on legal requirements to buyers, suppliers, and other relevant stakeholders.
2. Support induction training for new team members and managers.
3. Offer expert guidance on quality and compliance issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
Who You'll Work With
Internal: Collaborate with field and corporate employees across the EU and NA. External: Build relationships with suppliers, test houses, and third-party providers.
What We're Looking For
Education & Certifications:
1. Degree or equivalent in Law, Chemistry, or a role-specific qualification.
2. Or equivalent experience in a similar field.
Experience:
1. Proven experience in a quality-focused role within a test house, retail environment, or legal consultancy.
2. Familiarity with EU and NA legal systems, particularly in prosecuting or defending cases.
Knowledge & Skills:
1. Strong working knowledge of EU and NA product laws and standards.
2. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including macros and pivot tables.
3. Bonus: Fluency in a European language (French, Spanish, or German preferred).
