Job Family: EHS
The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor forms part of the Teesside EHS team and assists the EHS Manager on all matters relating to the management of EHS, primarily focusing on supporting site operational activities at these locations. As a member of the EHS team, we are looking for someone to offer practical solutions to many operational situations as they arise, ensuring all operational activities are performed safely and in line with site policies and procedures. The EHS Advisor is expected to promote a positive EHS culture.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Technical on-site support to Site Operations and Capital Project teams, including fire safety, operational emergency response, permitting, conducting Risk Assessments and reviewing Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), high hazard operations (such as working at height, confined space entry, asbestos, excavations, etc.), site shutdown activities, contractor safety.
2. Deal with day-to-day EHS related operational issues and queries across all Operations and Capital Project team activities, including contractor activities.
3. Provide specialist support in fire safety (including risk assessment, isolation, drills, training, records upkeep, etc.), working at height activities, and other high hazard activities.
4. Undertake regular workplace inspections, audits, and behavioural observations to ensure that workplace activities are undertaken in compliance with site standards, procedures, and rules.
5. Support the creation, implementation, and delivery of EHS improvement programmes.
6. Undertake internal audits in line with international standards (ISO14001).
Requirements for the Role:
1. Experience in Fire Safety / Asbestos / Permit to Work.
2. Basic/vocational education with some relevant EHS workplace experience.
3. Qualified to a degree level (with a technical/Scientific/EHS focus).
4. Experience working in the chemical industry would be desirable.
