Why Rolls-Royce?
Our Submarines business is currently expanding and opening a new Office based in Cardiff, in which we are looking for Engineers across multiple engineering disciplines. As we continue to support the Royal Navy as the technical authority to the UK Ministry of Defence for naval reactor plants, we’re also growing our submarine and nuclear sector capabilities. As part of this, we are looking for a number of people with a strong background in Systems & Requirements Engineers.
Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career. We offer excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum, we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

As a Systems Engineer within the team, you will:
1. Apply Systems Thinking: Establishing context, hierarchy, and lifecycle of systems. Seeing and defining the whole system, its purpose and functions.
2. Determine and manage requirements: Elicit and analyse all stakeholder needs, and convert into validated complete set of commonly understood requirements. Structure and manage full system requirements information (including interfaces), and connecting the levels of the system.
3. Project: Manage your work to time, cost and quality requirements. Set key deliverables and create robust programme plans.
4. Collaboration: Contribute effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and understand related technical disciplines. Provide advice and support to Business and Integrated Project Teams. Receive, interpret and convey complex information to, and from, people at a variety of levels.
5. Responsibility: Act as a point-of-contact, playing an active role in a specific field within an engineering discipline, influencing closely aligned teams and departments. Deal with ambiguity, think innovatively and work at pace within a highly dynamic environment. Have a strategic mindset: the ability to see the bigger picture and consider the business case and market strategy when developing products and services.
Who we are looking for:
* Have a strong understanding of Systems Engineering Principles
* Be a good communicator, able to engage multiple functions both internally and externally
* Have qualifications in an engineering discipline
* Have a strong delivery record with an understanding of programme management

We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realize their full potential.
