Job Description:
An opportunity has arisen for a Behavioural Support Assistant to join an alternative provision in Birkenhead, supporting students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. This role requires a dedicated and resilient individual who can provide structure, encouragement, and guidance to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have struggled in traditional school settings.
2. Establishing trusting relationships to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
3. Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using effective behaviour management strategies.
4. Encouraging students to engage in education by fostering positive attitudes toward learning.
5. Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals to implement personalised support strategies.
Person Specification:
1. Experience working with students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or in alternative provision settings is highly desirable.
2. A strong ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
3. A patient, understanding, and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
4. A genuine passion for making a meaningful impact on students' lives.
While the role presents challenges, it also offers a deeply rewarding experience, providing the opportunity to help students grow in confidence and achieve success.
