The Trainee Driver/Warehouse Operative role With being an integral part of our local logistics team, this role will work predominantly full-time within the local warehouse at Avonmouth, but once settled in with us, some hours to be allocated to training to secure your HGV (class 2/C) license (training costs fully funded by our company). Once you have attained your HGV license, you will also be expected to provide absence cover for the local driving team, undertaking daily multi-drop deliveries, as required (premium payable for hours covered driving). Your fellow team members are extremely self-motivated, enthusiastic and customer focused. We value a strong work ethic/flexibility. Our local logistics team works 45 hours each week, from Monday to Friday (we don't work evenings or weekends). Trainee Driver/Warehouse Operative Key Duties Accept deliveries from suppliers, ensuring goods are stored in the appropriate location. Pick, load, and dispatch goods to the customer base in a timely manner Receive and process customer or supplier returns Participate in stock counts, when necessary. Once HGV driver trained, when required to cover driving routes, to undertake multiple customer deliveries in the local region. Once HGV trained, as required to drive company vehicles, and operate Company equipment in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures & legislation Load your vehicle on return and secure load for safety Provide a professional driving service, to meet & exceed customer expectations Always comply with the vehicle security and standing procedure Carry out vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks (reporting defects) prior to the operation of any vehicle Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner Responsible for the Health and Safety of themselves and others, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident, and damage reporting What you will Bring You will be an experienced warehouse/logistics operative who is keen to secure their HGV (class 2/C) license. It is therefore essential that you already have your standard driving licence. You will ultimately be prepared to work predominantly full time within the warehouse, but when trained, equally happy to jump in a truck (sometimes at short notice) and undertake deliveries when our main driving team need covering. It would be really useful if you already hold a counterbalance forklift licence (or Bendi/Pivot truck) but this isn't essential, as training can be provided. As mentioned, in line with our team's approach, you will also have a strong work-ethic with a flexible ‘can do' attitude. Finally, as you will on occasion be acting as an ambassador for our business when making customer deliveries, it is vital that you have effective customer-facing skills.
