THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR MONTHS TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE
An opportunity has arisen to gain experience as a B Occupational Therapist within adult mental health, through this year long secondment covering maternity leave. B candidates are accepted to develop into this B post.
The post holder will work as part of the adult mental health Occupational Therapy service within the East area of BCUHB. They will deliver client centred and specialist, occupationally focused assessments and interventions to adults with serious mental illness referred into the community mental health team, under the direction of the Occupational Therapy adult mental health Team Lead.
The adult mental health Occupational Therapy service supports the patient recovery journey across the service pathway from crisis, though to admission and community services, supporting self-management and functional independence. The successful candidate will become part of a proactive, BCUHB wide, mental health Occupational Therapy team who work together to develop clinical skills and effectiveness across the adult mental health pathway. We seek to expand the mental health Occupational Therapy provision across all three Areas of BCUHB by evaluating service provision, developing business cases and running pilots.
The Occupational Therapy service are committed to lifelong learning and evidenced based practice. All staff receive support and encouragement to develop and maintain a CPD portfolio.
Main duties of the job
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST.
The post holder will have relevant experience and knowledge of mental health Occupational Therapy for adults with serious mental illness, be able to effectively use tailored : and group interventions, and establish and harness community networks to facilitate the recovery journey.
The post holder will be a team player and be committed to excellence in seeking the most robust models of intervention to enhance occupational participation. They will be responsible for supervision and development of junior staff and be required to take Occupational Therapy students on Practice Education placements.
The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner following professional codes of conduct and ethics carrying a varied specialist caseload in a specialist area of practice, which will include patients with complex needs.
The post holder will contribute to and lead some areas of service development duties within their department, which can include attending meetings, and leading in audit, evidence based practice research and service evaluation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
