The Duke of York’s Royal Military School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Biology Teacher to join our dynamic, highly effective Science Faculty. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic Teacher of Biology and a model of engaging and ambitious practice. You will have experience of delivering Biology in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 and will contribute to the continued development of teaching and learning, building upon the excellent foundations already established. You will be committed to ensuring an aspirational, relevant and engaging curriculum is delivered to all our students. We encourage applications from ECTs.
In addition, the successful candidate will be required to play an active role in boarding School life, including: tutoring; clubs and activities during the day; boarding duties in the evenings and at weekends. In return, a DOYRMS allowance of £6,686 per annum will be payable.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Demonstrate high expectations in the planning, delivery and assessment of KS3 Science, and Key Stage 4 and 5 Biology.
* Have a developed knowledge and understanding of the Science curriculums and related pedagogy, including how learning progresses within them.
* Be flexible, creative and adept at designing learning sequences within lessons and across lessons that are effective and consistently well-matched to learning objectives and the needs of learners and which integrate recent developments, including those relating to subject/curriculum knowledge.
* Have an extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
* Make accurate assessment of students’ knowledge, understanding and skills; offering effective feedback for development.
* Be accountable for students’ attainment, progress and outcomes, challenging under-performance through supportive interventions.
* Communicate effectively with parents with regards to students’ achievements and well-being.
* To provide continuity of learning should students be absent from School.
* To encourage cross-curricular links with other departments.
* To keep up-to-date with changes within the subject and national curricula and, within that context.
* Comply with all School policies and procedures.
* Take an active role in boarding school life include tutoring, boarding duties, sports, clubs and activities.
